Early Glimpses

Shree Chandulal Nanavati Vinaymandir School came into existence in 1954 as a Gujarati Medium Girls’ institution. A School steeped in Gandhian Philosophies and principles such as dignity of labour, honesty and self – reliance, this institution has made a smooth and uneventful transition into a co-educational and then English medium school since 1993. We are happy to announce that we are now affiliated to ICSE Council in 2016.
Today, six decades later, it still stands tall as a beacon-spreading core educational values such as trust, faith, tolerance and virtue.
Shree Chandulal was the son of the illustrious Dr. Balabhai Nanavati who served many long years as the royal physician of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaikwad of Baroda. A deep desire to be of service to the community drove Shree Chandulal to establish an educational trust in the name of the Nanavati family. His wife Smt. Maniben also shared his vision and worked tirelessly to fulfil her late husband’s dreams.
Her efforts finally came into fruition with the establishment of a Gujarati medium Girls’ school in 1954.
Both Shree Chandulal and his wife Smt. Maniben were close associates of Gandhiji and adopted his ideals and Principles in the setting up of the school.
Today the third generation of this family is proudly holding up the forefathers legacy of ‘Education for All’ with a Vision, ‘Empowering the future’ and a mission to ‘Develop Collective Intelligence’ we move ahead to inculcate ‘Learning for Sustainable Development’ creating Global Citizens for Tomorrow.
School Song
Dear Lord, Creator of all
I offer to you my day
All of my joys and sufferings
My cares and my concerns
My accomplishments and my failures.
All that I have, all that I do, is yours
Keep me in your care
Guard me in my actions
Teach me to love, and help me to turn
to you throughout the day.
The world is filled with temptations.
As I move through my day
Keep me close.
May those I encounter feel your loving presence.
Lord, be the work of my hands and my heart.
So I may be thorough
In work, Play and Prayer
So help me Lord.
Like a joy on the heart of a sorrow,
The sunset hangs on a cloud,
A golden storm of glittering sheaves,
Of fair and frail and fluttering leaves,
The wild wind blows in a cloud.
Hark to a voice that is calling
To my heart in the voice of the wind
My heart is weary and sad and alone,
For its dreams like the fluttering leaves have gone,
And why should I stay behind?
Where The Mind Is Without Fear
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
India is my country
All Indians are my brothers and sisters
I love my country,
and
I am proud of its rich and varied heritage
I shall always strive to be worthy of it
I shall give my parents, teachers
And all elders respect
And treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people,
I pledge my devotion
In their well being and prosperity alone
Lies my happiness.

FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so, He also loves the bow that is stable.
Our children who are not really our children at all.Kahlil Gibran.
This poem was introduced to me more than 3 decades ago, and today, I see its personification in this digital world.
As the Principal of the school, I feel honoured and privileged to be part of such a prestigious educational institution-NANAVATI SCHOOL, where every stakeholder is a learner and every day is an opportunity to learn and discover. We look at ourselves as a community of learners, where everyone learns including our teachers, parents & staff.
Today, the role of a school is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of an ever-changing global society.
More than six decades ago CNVM-Nanavati School pledged to transform education. The school that is being run under the aegis of well-established Management-The Nanavati Educational Trust” has earned its own niche. At CNVM-Nanavati School we provide an atmosphere to our students for multifaceted development, where children are encouraged to channelize their potential in the pursuit of excellence. This can only be possible in a holistic, student-centric environment. We focus upon identifying the talents, skills, and abilities of each student which are then nurtured, and encouraged so that he / she can reach greater heights. Students are provided with a platform to use analytical logistical thinking and then to express, and exhibit their skills. We do realise that it is necessary to empower them to negotiate several issues that confront them, with the teacher being a facilitator.
The school, rooted in Gandhian values, is a tradition by itself.
In the year 2015, our school underwent an iconic transformation and transgressed from the Stat SSC board to the ICSE_ Council for the Indian School certificate Examination, thus taking the school to a global platform. Now the entire management and dedicated team of staff, is striving hard to make the best possible efforts to inculcate strong values combining with academics and extra-curricular activities in the children. Converting every individual into a self-reliant and independent citizen, the school provides an amalgam of scholastic and co-scholastic activities. No wonder, a student harnessed in such an atmosphere has every hope and possibility of becoming a responsible, balanced and a mature adult and is able to live in to contribute and to shoulder responsibilities of the society, of which he forms an integral part.
At CNVM-Nanavati School, our approaches to learning is child centric, encouraging Activity-Based experiential learning and inculcating a scientific temper and a spirit of free enquiry. In our curriculum the student is the primary focus and each child is involved in the learning process. We are constantly improving our teaching methodology so that it turns learning into combination of classroom study, research, and scientific discovery.
The philosophy of the school is aimed towards being the launchpad to enable every child to achieve their maximum potential. With a vision to
‘Develop collective intelligence’ and learning for sustainable development’ Our mission strives towards creation of the Global Human.
Parental involvement in a child's education process is both a gift to your child and a gift to the school. This partnership is strongly encouraged and highly valued at CNVM.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to be a team member of a vibrant and dynamic education fraternity. Each day I am amazed by the little things the people of our school community do for one another. It is these daily reminders that make our school unique and special. Please take a moment and visit our school’s website. As always please feel free to contact our team with any questions or concerns. In the words of Plato,
‘The direction in which Education starts -will determine his future Life’.
